Chems Go Back To Where It All Began (In Afrika-ka-ka)
This first single from the forthcoming fourth Chemical Brothers record is just the stormer that everyone has been waiting for, yet another defining moment from the band whose musical identity and approach remains one of the most unassailable in the world today.
Since the spring, Tom and Ed Chemical have been road testing some new material in their DJ sets and consequently gave some slates of one of the tracks, "It Began In Afrika" to a few select DJ's. Reactions were henomenal, so a limited run of white label promos were pressed up as "Electronic Battle Weapon 5" - the latest in their series of limited club cuts - and sent to key DJ's around the world.
Some of the lucky DJ's who have been hammering it are Pete Tong, Danny Tenaglia, Francios K, Fatboy Slim, Roger Sanchez and Paul Oakenfold just to name a few. The B-side "Hot Acid Rhythm 1" is an electro-rasta acid trip that will remind you why a Chems B-side could easily be an A-side and is the perfect partner to "Afrika..."
