Paul McCartney’s STANDING STONE

Paul McCartney was commissioned in 1996 to compose a major orchestral work to mark EMI’s 100th anniversary in the autumn of 1997. The world premiere was held at the Royal Albert Hall after which the composer received a 10-minute standing ovation. The album was No.1 in both classical charts in the UK and USA and McCartney later won the USA’s National Public Radio New Horizon Award in recognition of his work in broadening the appeal of classical music.

In October last year Nigel released a new Vivaldi album including a new recording of The Four Seasons. Joined by members of the finest orchestra in the world, the Berlin Philharmonic, this album is becoming another all-time favourite – highly accessible to all.
