In the next 7 years, EBTG managed to release five more studio albums including:-
Love Not Money (1985)
Baby, The Stars Shine Bright (1985 incl. Come On Home)
Idlewild (1988 incl. UK No.3 hit I Dont Want To Talk About It)
The Language Of Life (1990 including US VH-1 hit Driving)
Worldwide (1991)
Before buckling down to making a brand new album, EBTG decided to release some compilation albums at the beginning of the rave-crazy 90s. First came the Acoustic album which was only released Stateside and featured a myriad of acoustic numbers that include four tracks from the Top 20 EP Covers. Other included Essence And Rare (1992) and Home Movies (1993) which were mostly recorded for USA and Japan. Shortly after, Amplified heart was released and gained rave reviews and much critical acclaim in the process and the house remix of Missing caused a major stir ubiquitously. This worldwide No.1 hit lead to a tour in which EBTG played ninety concerts throughout the US and Europe in support of the Amplified Heart. Around the same time Tracey Thorn co-wrote and performed lead vocals on the two tracks from the Massive Attack album Protection including the title track.
1996 saw the release of Walking Wounded the eight studio album from the band and this surpassed even their expectations by becoming their most successful album to date. It produced four massive singles that included Walking Wounded, Wrong and was the breaking of a new dawn for EBTG who adopted influences from the dance and breakbeat scene. 14 years on and EBTG had managed to seamlessly glide from the 80s era to 90s with relative ease. Temperamental was the last album from the band, which took a more in-depth look into the sounds of the clubs, exploring the influences of drum n bass, house and the clubbing scene.
'Temperamental was the last offering from EBTG in 1999 and featured a bigger and crisper sound than their previous efforts. The sound pointed to a deeper soulful level of songs based on dance music. Following on is the greatest hits collection Like The Deserts Miss The Rain - compiled by Ben and Tracey themselves. An accompanying retrospective DVD will also be released. Its an alternative greatest hits collection with 16 tracks that best outline the bands 20 year, 150 songs and eight million record sales. More details will follow Like The Deserts Miss The Rain is released on 21st October 2002.
