Kanye Conquers His Own Mission Impossible!

If anyone can, Kanyeezy can! Man of the moment Mr West will be taking on one of his biggest projects to date and it’s for Hollywood big cheese Tom Cruise. He’s recruited the Grammy winning rap star to produce his own take on the Mission Impossible theme for the latest offering from the franchise. Get more info in this week’s Outside Trax…

Jay-Z and Linkin Park Mash It Up At The Grammy
One of hip-hop's most valuable players will team up with some of rock's heaviest hitters in Los Angeles to mash up the stage at Wednesday's 48th annual Grammy awards. Grammy-winners Jay-Z and Linkin Park would hit the Grammy stage to perform "Numb/ Encore." The track is up for the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration award, contending with Ciara and Missy Elliott's "1, 2 Step," Common, Kanye West and John Legend's "They Say," Destiny's Child, T.I. and Lil Wayne's "Soldier," and Gwen Stefani and Eve's "Rich Girl."

Previously announced performers include Mariah Carey, Coldplay, John Legend, Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Clarkson, Paul McCartney, U2 with Mary J. Blige, Faith Hill with Keith Urban, Christina Aguilera with Herbie Hancock, Jamie Foxx with West and Madonna with animated group Gorillaz. The Grammys will also feature an all-star tribute to Sly and the Family Stone, featuring Legend, Maroon 5, Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Ciara, Joss Stone, Robert Randolph and Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.

Marvin Gaye Biopic To Hit Big Screen
The final three years of Motown legend Marvin Gaye's life will be revisited in director Lauren Goodman's forthcoming biopic, "Sexual Healing." Production on the film, which will be shot in Hungary and Germany, is set to begin in three months, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Actor Jesse L. Martin — who played Tom Collins onstage and in Hollywood's 2005 adaptation of the Broadway musical "Rent," but is perhaps best known as Detective Ed Green from TV's "Law & Order" — has signed on to portray Gaye in the film.

"Sexual Healing" will revolve around Gaye's emigration to Europe in 1981 — which followed years of tax difficulties, record-label friction and alleged cocaine abuse. Following the move, Gaye staged a triumphant comeback with 1982's Midnight Love, which featured the hit "Sexual Healing." Depression soon followed that high, and Gaye returned to the U.S., moving into his parents' home. After a heated argument, Gaye was shot and killed by his father on April 1, 1984 — the day before his 45th birthday. "

Ludacris Goes From the Big to The Small Screen
After conquering the big screen with films like Crash and Hustle and Flow, Ludacris will try his hand at the small screen this March on "Law & Order: SVU." The Atlanta MC (born Chris Bridges) will play Darius, a relative of Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola (Ice-T), in a guest appearance on NBC's hit drama "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."

Unlike most rappers turned actors, Ludacris made the leap to serious roles very quickly, winning a Critics Choice Award and a SAG Award for Best Ensemble for Crash and receiving a nomination for his first NAACP Image Award for Best Supporting Actor for Crash. Crash and Hustle & Flow are only Luda's second and third films. His first was 2 Fast 2 Furious!

Man Left Dead At Busta Video Shoot
A man is dead after he was gunned down at a video shoot for the new Busta Rhymes single in New York City. The man is understood to have been killed just after midnight this morning outside the Kiss The Cactus Production studios, after coming underfire from an AK-47 assault rifle. The victim is believed to be Israel Ramirez, 29, a bodyguard who worked for the studio. Police report that around fourteen shots were fired from the weapon, leaving a nearby car riddled with bullet holes.

At the time of the killing, over 200 people are thought to have been on set, including Busta, Missy Elliott, Mary J Blige and DMX. All had left by the time police began to question witnesses. A string of other famous rappers, including 50 Cent and Lloyd Backs from G-Unit were also scheduled to be on-set at the shoot for Busta's new single "Touch It (The Remix)".New York police found Ramirez dead from one gunshot wound to the chest on the sidewalk outside the studio and will now analyse CCTV footage of the incident.

Kanye Records Theme To 'Mission Impossible 3'
Grammy Award-winning rapper Kanye West has been selected to interpret the theme to the latest instalment of the Mission: Impossible movie franchise. West follows in the paths of U2, who reinterpreted the theme for the first movie in 1996, and Limp Bizkit, who recorded their version for Mission: Impossible II in 2000.

"As a fan of Kanye's work, I was thrilled at the prospect of him contributing his talents to M:I III," said Cruise, who produced the film. "We wanted to take this instalment of Mission to the next level and Kanye's music definitely added to accomplishing that goal. As we've done with the film, what he's done with the Mission theme is going to blow people away." Mission: Impossible III is scheduled for release on May 2006.

Madame Tussauds Immortalizes Tupac Shakur
Madame Tussauds wax museum in Las Vegas, Nevada will immortalize rapper Tupac Shakur on Apr. 5 as part of its new "On Stage" attraction. A wax figure capturing the famous image of a shirtless Shakur wearing a bandana and showing his tattoos joins superstars such as James Brown, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Prince and others as life-like wax statues. Adrian Jones, general manager of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, said the decision to immortalize Skakur came from public demand.

"We have received more requests from the public to immortalize Tupac than any other rap star," Jones said. "It is fitting that he will be the central figure in our new 'On Stage' attraction, which will offer the public a new high-tech system for enjoying the music of all the stars in the attraction. We will have more information about the attraction at a later date."
